Yesterday a plumber came to fix our shower (which has been leaking quite a bit). I was glad to have a plumber take a look, but also frustrated to schedule my Sabbath / the day where I’m sermonizing around his visit.
He gave me a call about 10 minute before he planned to arrive, so I cleaned the apartment as well as one can in under 10 minutes. My landlord told me that this guy was “rough around the edges,” so I wasn’t really sure what to expect.
Scott the Plumber was the GREATEST.
This past weekend was our fourth Ridder retreat (my second) in northern Michigan. Ridder is “an intensive, two-year process that includes leadership development for pastors and a team of six lay leaders from each church.” Through five three-day retreats, homework assignments between retreats, faith-walking, and lots and lots of accountability, we learn to equip ourselves as disciples and leaders (snagged some of that from the Ridder Church Renewal page off the RCA’s website). North Holland has been participating for two years.

Well, it definitely wasn’t my favorite sermon I’ve ever preached, but I like to keep a record of all my sermons for my own personal growth 🙂
Note: If you care to follow along, we are using a Lenten Devotional put together by our Adult Discipleship Team during our services throughout the season of Lent. That devotional is available here – I would definitely consider taking a look, particularly if you’re seeking a new rhythm for your own personal devotions!
Well, it’s been a minute since I popped on the blogosphere. Life has certainly been crazy – my job picked up pretty significantly, my old apartment has been extra cranky, and my mind is whirring with all the things.
Cool things from February:
