Liturgy: A Young Christian’s Prayer

Call to Confession: 01.15.17

God: we remember – with all of who we are – that You called us…

~ to abundant life, flourishing, & blessing ~

[though we replace them with whatever feels good]

~ to hospitality, compassion, & empathy ~

[though we settle for flippant, one-sided relationships]

~ to justice, mercy, & grace ~

[though we’re comfortable with unhealthy forms of tolerance]

We often sit content on the outskirts of the kingdom.

Even so…

God, You are the author of life in all its detail, depth, and diversity.

For this great and wonderful mystery we stand in awe.

Grant us rest and tension.

Give us the authenticity to live into our call,

and the discernment to know where and how we do not.

Lord, have mercy.
